Every vehicle you buy at Central Ford has two air filters: cabin and engine air filters. Read on to learn more about them and their differences.

Cabin air filters are engineered to clean the air entering your cabin. The filters protect occupants from dust particles, allergens, mold spores, and other contaminants. These filters are similar to the ones used in home conditioning systems. On the other hand, engine air filters are designed to clean the air entering your engine prior to combustion to ensure the air used in fuel ignition is clean and free of contaminating particles. Unlike cabin air filters, engine air filters come in round, conical, or flat shapes.

Like all vehicle components, cabin and air filters need regular maintenance for optimal performance. They should also be regularly replaced for more efficiency. Cabin air filters should be replaced every six to 12 months, while engine air filters need replacement every 12,000 to 15,000 miles.
